Description:Bilberries are any of several primarily Eurasian
species of low-growing shrubs in the genus Vaccinium (family
Ericaceae), bearing edible, nearly black berries. The species most
often referred to is Vaccinium myrtillus L.,Bilberries contain
diverse anthocyanins, including delphonidin and cyanidin
glycosides. Bilberries have been used in a variety of folkore and
traditional medicine.Vaccinium myrtillus has been used for nearly
1,000 years in traditional European medicine. Vaccinium myrtillus
fruits have been used in the traditional Austrian medicine
internally (directly or as tea or liqueur) for treatment of
disorders of the gastrointestinal tract and diabetes.Herbal
supplements of V. myrtillus (bilberry) on the market are used for
circulatory problems, as vision aids, and to treat diarrhea and
other conditions.
Function:
1. Antioxidation, eliminating free radicals. Anthocyanins of
blueberry has a strong active oxygen free radical scavenging
ability, so it has very strong antioxidant activity.
2. Vascular disease. Blueberry anthocyanins were used for the
capillary fragility, blood splashes, multiple cerebral circulation
disorder (similar to Ginkgo biloba corresponding role), venous
insufficiency, varicose veins and due to renal capillary fragile
due to urinary trace blood loss (capillary leakage).
3.Ocular diseases. Many eye diseases including cataracts and
macular degeneration of ultimate sources attributed to free radical
damage to the eye. Bilberry extract ,as a powerful antioxidant, can
protect the eyes from free radical damage. Blueberry anthocyanins
can be used to treat diabetes, retinal blur, cataract, glaucoma,
degradation of spots and vein dilation, retinal hemorrhage many eye
diseases.
4.Bilberry proanthocyanidins in skin care products play multiple
roles and have a unique effect , such as anti-aging, anti
ultraviolet, anti radiation, whitening, moisturizing, aging skin
caused by a variety of factors.
